Dr. Valarie Barker has a lifelong history of animal caretaking from the time she was a small child. She grew up with a managerie of pets and livestock and practically "grew up" on a horse's back. She spent her high school years preparing for a college career in veterinary medicine and graduated in 1976 with a degree in Biomedical Science. After spending the next 10 years out of school raising a family, showing Weimaraner dogs, and working as a veterinary technician, she returned to school and attended Texas A&M's College of Veterinary Medicine, where she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree in 1991.
Dr. Barker loves her work and tries to incorporate her faith in God and Jesus Christ into her everyday life and practice. She takes seriously her responsibility of caring for God's creatures and helping to educate owners how they can do the same.
